Why InnoFlue®?
Across North America home owners, building owners, contractors, distributors, engineers and original equipment manufacturers are asking for InnoFlue® Polypropylene Special Gas Vent Systems. These stake holders trust InnoFlue® to provide them with a safe, reliable and environmentally sustainable vent system. InnoFlue® provides these benefits all while reducing installation time by up to 75%.
InnoFlue® Polypropylene Special Gas Vent Systems are manufactured from environmentally friendly polypropylene. Our polypropylene technology is warranted for sustained flue gases up to 248°F (120°C), providing enhanced performance properties when compared to PVC and CPVC technology.
Designed as a vent system, not a DWV product, InnoFlue® offers intuitive components such as test ports, condensate drains and siphons. These components eliminate the need to “field modify your vent system” in order to analyze combustion gas or simply to remove excess condensate from the system.
Centrotherm utilizes a systems-based approach to venting. The InnoFlue® product offering includes single wall, flexible and concentric vent system components. These interchangeable components allow users to switch between component types providing a solution for nearly every type of structure. Offset chimneys? No problem – switch from InnoFlue® Single Wall to InnoFlue® Flex at the base of the chimney. Only want one roof or wall penetration? Run InnoFlue® Single Wall to the roof or wall and convert to an InnoFlue® Concentric Termination. Have multiple heating appliances in the same mechanical room or structure? Utilize our cascade technology to common vent the units.
What is the process for getting a product listed to the applicable safety standard?
*Note that the term “certified” is often used rather than the correct term, which is “listed”.
In order to have a product listed to UL, ULC, ANSI, CSA, or other safety Standards, a company must have its product tested by an OSHA accredited laboratory. Once a laboratory receives OSHA accreditation, it then must be approved by the standard writing body in order to then test and “list” products.
Laboratory approvals are issued on a standard by standard basis. For UL-1738 and ULC-S636, only two laboratories are accredited to test and list products in North America, i.e. Underwriters Laboratory and InterTek.
Each laboratory uses their own mark to indicate that a product has been tested and is listed.
Is InnoFlue® approved for use in the United States?
InnoFlue® Polypropylene Special Gas Vent Systems are approved for use in the United States. InnoFlue® is the first polymeric (plastic) vent system listed to UL-1738, the relevant standard for venting Category II, III, and IV appliances.
All codes require that vent systems be tested and approved by the appliance manufacturer on an appliance by appliance basis. Contact Centrotherm Eco Systems, visit our appliance manufacturer approval page, review the venting section of the appliance installation manual, or contact your appliance manufacturer directly to determine if InnoFlue® is approved for use with a specific appliance.
Is InnoFlue® approved for use in Canada?
Canadian code requires all combustion gas vent systems to be listed to ULC-S636. The entire InnoFlue® product offering has been tested and is listed to ULC-S636 Class C, making it approved for use as a combustion gas vent system for sustained flue temperatures up to 230°F (110°C). Check with individual appliance manufacturers’ installation instructions to ensure that InnoFlue® is approved for use with a specific appliance.
How long has InnoFlue® been in service?
Listed to CE EN 14471 Safety Standard, Centrotherm has manufactured and distributed polypropylene vents to the European market since 1994.
Why use InnoFlue® polypropylene technology over PVC?
InnoFlue®'s Polypropylene Special Gas Vent System technology provides several technical advantages over existing polymeric vent materials including increased temperature ratings, enhanced corrosion resistance, innovative design, and a 10-year limited warranty.
InnoFlue® is specifically designed for this application. This means that vent specific components like condensate drains, test ports, and non-return valves are available. In addition, Centrotherm provides technical support, provides system sizing, and develops custom parts and OEM components.
